Planting at Rookery Park
St Mary Magdalene and Mapplewells Primary schools planted thirteen orchard trees with the Trees for Climate team and specialist Mark Richmond on one of the snowiest days in March.
Following consultation in summer 2022, we agreed to plant 13 traditional orchard trees including apple, pear, cherry and plum.
As well as storing carbon, the orchard will provide opportunities for foraging as well as shade as the trees grow in the future. The trees will also provide a food source for local wildlife.
